The 1500 scorer has something else in their file that's more desirable, as frustrating as that may seem to the 1600 scorer. AOs are looking holistically at accomplishments, diversity in majors, citizenship etc. They might simply need a trumpet player or be drawn to someone who is committed to public health vs. yet another engineering or cs major. It is a far more complex, nuanced process than mere test scores would suggest.I agree with the PPs who've said changing affirmative action policy won't change outcomes to the degree they anticipate, maybe not much at all.[/quote]
