+1 for all the people who say "smart dogs can be difficult for a beginner" Our Doberman was so smart that he knew when we spelled out W-A-L-K. We would start with the W, and he would get all excited. So funny :) +1 for the breeds which are both smart and determined to have their way! There is something to be said for dumb! or so smart they act dumb --Golden Retrievers.
Ha, this is so true. We're German and own two Rottweilers. It doesn't matter if we speak German or English, spell it in eihter language....we've devolved into spelling the ENglish word in German to get around this issue or the German words in English to confuse the dogs. It's only a matter of time before they catch on. One of them learned how to unlatch his crate...this requires using his nose and paw simultaneously to unlatch and open. He then opens the other crate door so that they can roam around the house and sleep on the "verboten" sofas while we're gone, but when they hear the garage door they run back into their crates. Of course they can neither close the crates again, nor get rid of the fur on the sofas. It's funny.
