Asians have been made a pawn at TJ. White numbers have actually gone up. And that's why all these changes were encouraged. That rankles because the people in power knew exactly what they were doing. They wanted to be seen as benevolent while benefiting themselves.
No. They did not know what they were doing. Every time they make a decision to encourage more poor minorities--Blacks and Hispanics, the results do not turn out as they wish. Has it occurred to them that just maybe everyone does not want to go to TJ?
See, this was an argument that I bought for some time - until I saw application numbers among all non-Asian demographics skyrocket once the admissions process was adjusted. The previous reality of what TJ was had a demonstratively negative impact on folks actually wanting to go to TJ, which made the process MUCH less competitive. I'm looking forward to seeing those numbers continue to grow in the coming years, which should result in a continued strengthening of the overall student body and the academic experience.
