As a society we need shared values that we can all support. Policies should be colorblind and help and opportunities should be available to everyone regardless of their race.
I am tired of people like Pelosi saying "Our diversity is our strength." No, Nancy. Our shared values is what makes us strong. The focus should be on how we are alike - not different.
+10000 E Pluribus Unum So much of what has made American what it is is the idea that an American can look like anything and anyone, that people from all over the world can come here and become, simply, American. The modern Identity Politics obsession with binning everyone into hyphenated categories and scoring them against each other is attacking the fundamental fabric of the country. This isn't unifying! If there is anyone that still wishes for a more unified America, where all politics aren't reduced to a zero-sum game between two warring extremes, stop dividing people. Stop teaching people that every policy must be examined first and foremost through the lens of identity. Stop teaching children that their race/ancestry is what defines them and that the country is full of oppressors and oppressed. We need to build a society where people are judged on their actual achievements and that pathways to success exist for all, but that those pathways are as colorblind, and sex/religion/etc blind as possible.
This nation has never been ‘ colorblind’. We are only hundreds of years out from slavery and decades from the Voting Rights Act. Yet, you think the bashed in, generational attitudes and actions and impact of that goes away if we just close our eyes and say it loud enough! People like you care nothing for anyone whose experience is different is yours and does not perpetuate the lies you believe. Deliberately ignorant.
