Just watched the whole thing via the NYTimes and she appeared very disrespectful towards the umpire. Berating him and insulting him. Unacceptable.
I wish you and many other white critics here could step back and see that this is your repressed racism coming out here. This is the same repressed racism that makes you all hate on M Markle without having any real reason. You are hyper critical and rush to condemn any potential misstep by these dynamic and successful women of color. You will hold up the rule book and exclaim “but she broke xyz rule and that is just how it goes” but I didn’t hear anyone picking up the rule book every time a man broke the same kind of rule and wasn’t checked for it. You will come up with any and every reason to diminish these women and others like them. This is why black parents have been telling their children for generations that they have to be twice as good to be considered half as good as whites. It doesn’t matter how well the assignment is complete overall, if there is a t or i left uncrossed or undotted, a white pwrson will find and run with it to prove your unworthiness. So, when you find yourself asking again and again why does Serena seem so have such a chip on her shoulder, please understand that you helped put it there by continuing to ask the question.
DP. No it is not. You must not watch tennis. She is nasty on the court when she loses her temper. Men get warnings all the time, they argue all the time, but never to that level of insulting and yelling. The other player is black too, no? Serena has accomplished a ton, I mean insane number of titles and success. You should tell your kid to take a look at Naomi Osaka and take her as an example of an African/Japanese role model. Serena has no reason for a chip on her shoulder, not anymore. We can't all act like she is 10 year old girl. Today Djokovic had to replay a point that was good but called out, he didn't' lose his mind, and he is known for losing his mind. But, he was winning, see the difference here? Serena is a role model to so many kids, she should act like a mom that she is, like a legend that she is. This is beneath her.[/ Are you blind... Men ... Never argue to that level. You are showing your bias. When men do the same or worse it's okay, when women do it it's disrespectful.
You are blinded by your prejudice and can't actually comprehend what I wrote. Oh, well, I tried. How many men have you heard tell the lineswoman that she will shove the ball down her throat? I bet you none in public setting, but Serena has said it loud and clear. You keep thinking she was right, did you even watch it?
Agassi told that ump he was a son of a bitch. Nothing. There’s a video of Djokovic breaking racket after racket cussing. Djokovic has also made threatening comments to the ump. Wozniak ask the line judge if he was blind and if he had actually gone to school. She then requested his supervisor. Jimmy Connors threatened and cussed out the ump. McEnroe was famous for his cuss outs. Jeff Tarranga called the umpire corrupt and left the court. Nastiest was notorious for threatening both his opponents and the line umps.
most of these men actually got warnings and breaking the racquet is an automatic penalty. serena's problem was that she did it all - coaching, racquet and multiple tantrums.
