At this point is it thought BL legal fees are 10x other side? Or is Wayfarer spending as much but just not putting as many attorneys in public view?
I’d imagine they are spending similar amounts. The difference is Sarowitz is a literal billionaire whose pet project is this independent studio. Lively and Reynolds net worth seem to be closer to a few hundred million so this is hurting them more. Plus the fact that Justin is not even a defendant anymore. He’s not paid for a dime of this. Lively does seem to have a ton of PR she is paying for. Plus we now know that because the contract was not enforceable She didn’t get the $30 million + she was entitled to when the movie grossed 350 million if she had signed her damn contract. We know that Justin got that but she got the 3 million in the original loan agreement she signed. I believe it was 1.75 base and then several bonuses each time the film went over 100 million, totaling 3 million. There is speculation that this whole suit is actually about that - as soon as her last bonus hit, they filed Vanzan. I think they were super pissed that because of her own actions she lost out on $30 million and now I can’t imagine this hasn’t cost her at least 30 million more and if it goes to trial, I imagine another 10 million? Would Ilove to hear from lawyers about how much this is costing.
I think more than $ 10 million at this point because she filed something like a dozen motions for sanctions and also the 110 subpoenas to content creators, plus all the other the motions, document production and review, and depositions. Maybe a few more million to take it to trial.
