FOX and racists? you don't say http://www.salon.com/2016/05/03/sounds_like_black_privilege_to_me_rampant_racism_forces_fox_news_to_close_comments_section_on_malia_obama_article/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=socialflow
The Obamas are used to this and will press on. I'm happy that she can delay the leaving home moment and enjoy the time with her family. It just kills me that people have such hatred for such a gracious and hardworking family.
Hardworking, yes. Gracious, I don't see it, they have made racial relations worse than they have ever been -- even my Latino and Asian friends talk about our "Deporter-in-Chief" in very surprising terms.
I think racist white people have made race relations worse than they have ever been.
+1 I do not think that race relations are "worse" than they have ever been. People seem to be forgetting the period of time between the 1870's and the 1960's. However, if you ask minorities whether race relations have gotten worse over the last 8 years, most of them will say yes. BUT not because of anything that POTUS has done or said. It is because many folks did not want a minority as POTUS in the first place and have struggled to accept it. Criticism of the POTUS gives these people a cover to publicly express their prejudices. In some ways, America was ready for a minority POTUS but in many ways it was not. His election forced many people to admit that they were not ready and forced their hand on what they really feel about minorities. POTUS was dead on - people's reaction to him has created the perfect storm for Trump. If HRC wins, I expect more of the same - except with sexism.
Though I think this should be in the Political forum, you summed it up nicely.
