I cannot stand Kim and think she holds no value for the show. They already have a villan with Brandi. But I also can't stand the dynamic between Kyle and Kim. Kim was over the top tonight especially toward Eileen and Lisa R. Kim's time as a celebrity was a bit before my time, but was she really that famous?
No she wasn't. I'm fairly certain that the only reason she is still on the show is because Kyle threatens to leave every time the producers want to fire her, as all the tabloids have reported. I dont know what will happen after this season though. I feel like this was just so far over the line. Brandi may be a pig but at least she adds something to the storyline. For most of the episodes Kim is hardly even around.
I have to disagree. She was a HUGE child star. Huge. One of the biggest child stars of the 70s, I'd say. She was a regular on Nanny & the Professor when she was super young, like 4. And then she was in a lot of Disney stuff, including Escape to Witch Mountain (!), and afterschool specials. Then she was a regular on a couple shows as a teen (James at Sixteen and another one I'm blanking on). Frankly, I think she started having kids to get away from her career. From what I've read, her mother was quite the pushy stage mom. It's sad to me to see her now. I loved her as a child and am sorry that, like so many others, being a child actor didn't let her have a normal childhood and life.
It's funny, I was a 70s kid and I have no recollection of her whatsoever. I was a big after school special watcher and a lot of tv in general. She is probably just not memorable to me which means nothing but whenever she talks about being a child star I just don't recall her at all. And I can name the cast (character and real names) of tons of 70s shows -- Hart to Hart, Emergency, Love Boat, Fantasy Island, Eight is Enough, Different Strokes... and so on. But Kim Richards, nope.
Same here. I only remember her from Escape to Witch Mountain, and even then, I would never have known what her real name was. I think maybe she was a teen idol or something, so maybe we were just slightly too young to remember that? I believe they showed a poster of her in a red swimsuit when RHOBH first started, by way of introducing her. I was born in 1968... don't know if that has anything to do with it.
I'm the PP above. I was born in 1966. I don't really remember her as a teen idol (other than the classic Tuff Turf), but more so as a child. That straight hair and those bangs. I wanted to be her! Of course, I also wanted to be Buffy from A Family Affair. She died at 18 from a drug overdose, so maybe Kim isn't doing too badly for a child star from that era. Agree with a PP to google her to see what she looked like as a kid, because the years have not been kind to her skin.
