Random costume question: did they have sequins back then?
Don’t think so, it’s just part of the fantasy fun element.
I don't mind it as much when it's just detailing, but I found Michaela's red dress to be totally absurd and it completely took me out of it. It was so obviously a modern fabric and using modern techniques.
What about Araminta’s earrings? The ones that went all the way up her ear to the cartilage (they were black). I can’t believe those would have been around back then but admittedly I don’t know much about the period dress/styles.
According to this website adorned ear cuffs were a thing for rich people in that period: https://sophiescloset.com/blog/ear-cuffs-a-history-worth-hearing/?srsltid=AfmBOooNrTiR1mxerQZ8MDPsycpHlZbugpLhETD0PTDGCCdIIFppWTnj
Interesting! But didn’t Araminta’s look too modern?
The show is not meant to be a true period piece. Odd that her ear cuffs bother you but not the song choices or diverse "ton". Not of that is realistic.
They don’t really bother me. But the link PP sent to show they had ear cuffs back then didn’t really support the ones we saw on the show. They showed over the ear ones in the painting. I was confused.
