How long ago was that? I've worked in FCPS for 30 years, and it was never that strict. It is true that we used to get three personal days (teschers now have five), but there was never a restriction on how many sick days you could use, as long as you had the leave.

In 2002-2003, I definitely used more than ten days of leave, but I was never docked pay. I missed at least five days after having surgery on my leg, over a week when I had the flu, then another week or so when the flu turned into pneumonia and I had to be hospitalized. I remember that i was only back at work for one day before I was out again due to the pneumonia. I might have missed other random days that year, but I know for a fact that I missed no fewer than 15-20 days.
