Are we allowed to ask how many Jews attend FCPS?
Why do you need to know?
Probably because FCPS is taking off for a Jewish religious holiday.
Doesn’t answer the question. Unless your point is minorities should be treated differently? Unless of course you’re willing to move Christmas break and Easter Break so we’re not all stuck with those exact weeks off across the country and then you can stay home for a religious observance?
Christmas is a federal holiday and one of the first federal holidays. It has been a major cultural and religious holiday in the United States since our founding. It is celebrated in some form by the vast majority of Americans. No one reasonable goes to another country and demands that the country ditch its primary cultural traditions. This is a completely unserious statement. Easter Holy Week is tied to spring break because that is what all the other public schools in northern Virginia do. Fcps tried to untie it, but it wrecked havok on childcare for teachers so FCPS moved it back to Easter Holy Week. Fyi, the Catholic and Christian private schools don't attach spring break to Easter Holy Week. It is religiously inappropriate for a fun party vacation week to occur over Holy Week. Christians view Holy Week as a sombre time of sacrifice, prayer and reflection, not a fun beach and Disneyworld week. For Christians, separating spring break from Easter Holy Week would be preferred. Tying spring break to Easter Holy Week is a purely secular decision from secular non Christians or non practicing Christians who don't understand Holy Week or Christianity.
Since Christmas is off federally anyway, we really have no reason to tie the entire country to having to be off at the same time. You realize Christianity is not native to this country right? Y'all didn’t just come here and ask it be respected, you slaughtered the natives and decimated their religions.
Yeah, you would have less than 20% of the students attending school that week of Christmas to New Year, and even fewer teachers and staff. Nice try
