Morgan Freeman honoring Gene Hackman, I assumed they didn’t have time to honor Gene in Memoriam but they did.

Also honored Quincy in Memoriam and then a long musical number dedicated to him.

The 007 bit - they gave some award at a previous Oscar award show (the ones they think are not important) and then do the 007 bit but the winners don’t come on stage. Really?

I thought the Quincy tribute was one of the highlights.  I was up and dancing.  I also thought Morgan freeman’s tribute to Gene was touching.  They’ve done that sort of thing before.  I agree the 007 bit was super bad.  And normally I would think it was bad not to play the nominated songs but they were all awful—the wicked song was great and a fun way to kick it off.  I wonder if the French lady who won for the song realized that her song was so bad they didn’t give it a full musical number.  That movie had some real talent in it so it’s too bad they couldn’t find some decent song writers for them.  Really weak year for songs.  [/quote]
