Lewiston experienced a horrible mass shooting in 2023 that had nothing to due with its immigrant population. An event such this, rather than racism, may influence perceptions of the town. The earlier poster also may have considered general crime statistics for Lewiston in comparison to those for the locations of some of Bates' peers.
