I delivered twins during my 20th week of pregnancy. Don't tell me that at 20 weeks a baby is a "bag of cells." They were tiny little human beings. If you held your children in your arms and watched them die like I did, you would support restrictions on abortion to the first trimester. I don't know the numbers, but I believe a large number of abortions that happen in the second trimester is due to the advent of advanced genetic testing that takes place 18 weeks. To me, it is horrifying that people will terminate pregnancies due to genetic abnormalities like Downs Syndrome, or even the wrong sex. [/quote]

Agree, as someone who generally supports a right to abortion in the first trimester. It is horrifying that people terminate at twenty weeks.

People who support second or third term abortions should read about what the babies endure during the abortion process. Ripping off limbs is horrific especially considering they start to feel pain about 13 weeks gestation. I've listened to interviews with abortion providers and it makes me sick what is happening. There is a reason a majority of ob/gyns will not perform abortions. [/quote]

Yes. It is. And in the safe, legal, and rare line of legislation, she would be able to get her abortion. I would argue that a child rape victim should be able to get abortions until 20 weeks, provided that the fetus gets pain relief, because in that scenario the choice is between the ripping apart of two innocent victims.

But that’s not what the Democratic position is. It’s for no limitation. It’s for babies that we know feel pain to be dismembered with no pain relief at 20 weeks, or even longer, because the parents don’t want the child any longer.

And allowing 12 year old victims to get abortions until 20 weeks is absolutely not what the Republican position is. Especially not in states ruled by retrograde religious fanatics like Texas and Alabama and Florida. They have stated their position clearly and they have made their legislation to prevent even those cases of abortion.

I personally would not seek an abortion unless I had been raped or the fetus had a painful terminal medical issue. But I also would not judge others who get abortions.

I was fine with the standard that Roe set. Abortions available without forced vaginal probes or delays or making patients including rape victims look at the ultrasound - up to the point of viability, so 23-24 week. Abortions after that based on a doomed pregnancy outcome so that a woman isn’t forced to go to term with a fetus who has a catastrophic condition or when the abortion is needed to save the patient’s life or or health or the life of one of the multiples she is carrying (so allowing selective reduction in the case of twins or triplets when that save one of the fetuses). And letting this be a decision made by the patient and her doctor. Not the government. [/quote]
