But God is clearly referenced in the Declaration of Independence as are the inalienable rights granted to everyone. The constitution is the new governmental framework that protects those inalienable rights. [/quote] No, that’s not how it works. There are no rights bestowed by the DOI and no case law citing them. The constitution rules. Also, the DOI, written by deist and non-supernaturalist Thomas Jefferson, first mentions “the laws of nature” and then adds “and nature’s god”. So, fail. Definitely no Christianity /Jesus/Old Testament reference. Gosh, I wonder why they didn’t put that in there if that is what they meant?[/quote]
