Does anyone here think the looting is justified? I was reading the press release from Meatball's attorney and she basically said the looting was justified as an act of political resistance against an unjust system. Is this view compelling to people?
No. I’ve never heard anyone say that. It happens when people are disaffected, feel like they have nothing to lose, and are angry at establishments or the “system”, but it’s not an act of resistance- it’s a crime spree.
But the attorney did say that. Here is the exact statement. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AN OPEN LETTER TO THE MEDIA I write this open letter with a profound sense of outrage and frustration over the unjust portrayal of my client, Dayjia Blackwell. It sickens me to witness the media's complicity in what can only be described as an all-out assault on black and brown people, as their character and actions are mercilessly vilified. We cannot afford to disregard this insidious injustice. Dayjia Blackwell, a vibrant and charismatic 21-year-old African- American female, was catapulted into the limelight through her incredible talent for creating hilarious and captivating content on social media. With her infectious energy and boundless creativity, Dayjia has captured the hearts of thousands, leaving a trail of laughter and joy in her wake. ○ jessicamann_esq/Instagram
This is hysterical. Dayjia posted her own live stream of her criminal activity including theft of henessy and her live stream encouraged others to join in the crime spree. Media had nothing to do with Dayjia participating in a crime spree. There were (a few) white faces arrested as a result of the crime spree so it was not only black folk stealing.
