Are you just seeing your family doctors to get prescribed these medications? I am STRUGGLING. My PCP is absolutely no help. She offers no criticism and no solutions. I am 47, BMI 42, A1C =5.9%, weight is 263, I have high cholesterol, normal BP and RA, which makes exercising—even just walking—very painful. How are people with BMIs under 27 getting these meds—what am I doing wrong? Are your doctors taking new patients?
I'm a PP with somewhat similar stats to yours. My PCP was useless for my weight and related issues. A year after I'd asked her about trying one of these medications, I had made no progress and was miserable, so I switched to a different provider in the same practice, who prescribed it right away. That said, as I posted earlier in the thread, I've been on Ozempic for 3 months now, am at 1mg, and have lost no weight. I don't feel any different at all.
Ugh. I’m sorry—that must be very frustrating. I think that’s why maybe I should go the endocrinologist route to get the meds to make sure something else isn’t holding my body back. (I have fasting insulin resistance, so I know that isn’t helping things.) I don’t mind doing the low carb thing; I just need a little help to get me started so I can exercise without being in extreme pain, too.
