Was there a rule in this store requiring a mask?
NO! I shop there.
What store was it?
People need to stop claiming, into their own echo chamber, that Youngkin was deliberately not wearing a mask in defiance of a mask requirement at Safeway. This is the Safeway at the Bermuda Triangle of Quaker/King/Braddock next to Bradlee Shopping Center. It looks like a space ship or something out of Star Wars. If you are familiar with Alexandria you know exactly where tis is. There is NO mask requirement for this grocery store. None. There used to be a sign that asked you to wear a mask if you hadn't been vaccinated, but I don't know if that has been taken down. Regardless, Youngkin has already publicly stated he is vaccinated. He didn't have to wear a mask there. People need to unclench and let go. I was at two Aldis today, the one on Monroe in Del Ray and the one on Duke near Foxchase. Both had small signs you could barely see inside that said masks were encouraged if you weren't vaccinated. There is no mask mandate in Alexandria. Businesses I believe can require masks, but most are NOT doing it. Please stop the insanity with just assuming there are mask requirements or that all Alexandrians wear masks. Screaming at each other, shaming people, it's pitiful.
Well, I mean if there is no mask required in the store I'm certain that Covid will abide by that and politely stay outside so that the good shoppers of Alexandria are safe.
that wasn't the issue and it isn't the issue. People claiming that the Bradless Center Safeway has a mask requirement and that the Governor wasn't abiding by it. Not whether there was covid in Safeway (FYI in 2022 you should just assume there will be covid anywhere and everywhere). You twist yourself in knots to find something wrong. I'm sorry you want everyone to be wearing masks in Safeway. Safeway doesn't require it. So you are free to not shop there and go somewhere else that does require shoppers to mask up. You will be hard pressed to find a grocery store in Alexandria that actually does require masks. I know of none. A little bit of trivia: Albertsons owns Safeway, and it also owns Balduccis. I was at the OT Balduccis a week ago (against my better judgment, their prices are insane), and several of their employees weren't wearing masks, in addition to all the elderly people who shop there. And as for the 2 Aldis I went to today, I saw several instacart shoppers shopping at both locations, none were wearing masks. Breathing all over your groceries I guess.
Who goes to multiple Aldis in a day?
Me. Since you're so nosy (and sounds snobby) I needed to buy a bunch of gatorade for several sports teams. You can get an 8 pack for $5 which is almost half the price anywhere else and they have the flavors the kids requested. What's wrong with Aldi? You're too good for it?
I have nothing against Aldi but I'm sure you left shopping carts all over their parking lot though. When you take up two parking spaces is it because you suck at backing in or is it because you just don't care?
Ahh the fiction writer has returned! She knows more about you than apparently you do! I also think your Aldi shopping cart comment is hilarious because everyone knows you put the cart back so you can get your quarter back. :D
Sorry you need the quarter.
LOL Nothing says “I’m a decent person” like insulting someone based on where they shop! Im also confused-are you upset I return the cart? I thought you really hated people who leave them in the parking lot.
Wait a minute; I'm the poster that shops at Aldi to get gatorade. I still don't understand what is wrong with shopping at Aldi? Why would I leave my shopping carts in the parking lot; that makes zero sense, especially since you need to get the quarter back. Heck yeah I want my quarter. So let me get this straight: it's ok and perfectly acceptable to make fun of people who are trying to save money as well as jeer and yell at people who are not wearing masks in grocery stores even though masks aren't required. Um, ok.
Right, sorry, you went to multiple Aldi's today so yeah you're gonna want your .75 cents back. Did you ever ask yourself why Aldi charges for the cart and promises your money back for its return in the first place? I hope you enjoy your "Because of all the Selfish Twats Tax" they charge you because inconsiderate people leave their carts all over parking lots.
Not sure how this thread turned into being about Aldi but I will bite. The reason Aldi has the one quarter (and in Europe one euro) fee to get a cart is not because people would leave their carts all over the parking lot otherwise. Aldi's business model is as streamlined; as possible all associates know how to do each and every job in the store. One of the jobs they do not want them doing is gathering carts from the cart corral (the designed parking space/area in a parking lot where people return carts) and bringing them back into the store. The customer is doing this job for the store, they get their cart at the door, and then return it to the door, back in line with the other carts by inserting the key from the neighboring cart. It's a labor issue. It's one less thing an Aldi employee has to do. This is a distinct, purposeful part of their business model and way they keep their costs/overhead low, along with other strategies. So no, people would not leave their carts all over the place if there wasn't a quarter system. Are there carts all over parking lots and not in the cart corrals at Target, Harris Teeter, Giant, WF, Safeway, etc?
It started because Puritan Mask lady decided to make fun of someone for shopping at Aldi, when that person was only sharing mask-wearing observations on her recent Aldi trip.
No, Puritan Mask guy was comparing people who simply will not wear a mask indoors for 30 minutes during a pandemic regardless of store policy to selfish and careless people who don't return their shopping carts. It really is the same level of lack of respect and courtesy to others. They don't care if the cart rolls into your car door, they're done using it and left. They don't care if they are walking around asymptomatic and passing Covid. They are people who need rules to enforce being considerate to others. Nothing says that more than charging a quarter for a shopping cart to make sure that they get returned. But there are other simple acts of courtesy that people just ignore because they are an slight inconvenience. And what is funny is nobody has really disputed that they have done any, all or one of the things listed. They aren't denying the examples of which they really are more symbolic than actual, but these are things that I we all notice on a regular basis. This isn't about living in fear or checking every door for what their rule is. Just carry a mask and plan on wearing it inside for another month or two. Just be courteous. If a store employee asks you to put one on, do it, don't go citing Youngkin's "EO". Be civil and polite.
