Asians should as a block not go to any IVY league School the next four years and give up their slots to African American students.
Great idea! Why not have the Whites (both the ones with great stats like the Asians and the ones with privilege (sports, legacy, etc)) also join in? Make all the top schools Black-only for the next 5 years! Any unfilled seats can go to low-income kids without regard to race. White people wanna sign up?
I’m pretty sure having 100% black people in elite positions has already been tried. It’s called Africa and the experiment isn’t working out so well
PP here. I was being sarcastic asking white people to sign up. Some poster is trying to make this a black vs asian issue when it's really not. We (Asians) are NOT competing with Blacks. I think all institutions of higher learning should be taxed as corporations (not non-profits) and the resultant taxes should be used to establish a foundation for historically disadvantaged groups (descendants of blacks who were brought here as slaves and Native Americans). Other lower income groups could also benefit from these programs. Any liberals willing to push for that? As long as these institutions are benefiting from tax breaks that I fund, I should get to have a say in how they behave. F**K their "holistic" BS. I've seen snide articles about how Liberty University is a non-profit but makes a ton of profit, etc. written like an expose but none from the bleeding-heart liberals criticizing Harvard and the likes which are really hedge funds fronting/pretending to be in the education business..
If H truly cares about URMs, they can invest some of their money supporting k-12 in low income communities to bring up their academic standards. All evidence, however, points to affirmative action being a great business for Harvard. Harvard mainly uses affirmative action to recruit full-pay African and Caribbean students while it throws a bone to few American blacks.
