You, as a Democrat, I had the same thought that he reminds me of Trump at the opposite end of the political spectrum. Terrible leadership. He's either a moron or playing politics with Hogan.
Which actions of Elrich remind you of Trump? Golfing? Getting the police to investigate his political opponents? Shaking down other elected officials? Inciting bigotry and violence? Praising Nazis? Advising people to take dangerous medications? Getting his lawyer to pay off porn actors? Stiffing small businesspeople who did work for him? Naming his children and children-in-law to high-level positions in the county? Operating Montgomery County like a banana republic? Do tell.
Inability to govern. Unfortunately, for us, a trait they share.
Gov. Hogan is very popular, non partisan, and willing to work with Democrats. He has handled this crisis calmly and with a reasonable plan. Elrich is clearly playing politics with reopening. I'm not sure how he's going to wiggle his way out of the bizarre and data dashboard and non transparent decision making process without looking like a fool. There's no way we're meeting all of those metrics anytime soon so he's really boxed himself into a corner. I'm a Democrat and the only Republican I've ever voted for is Hogan.
