News articles say he returned to DC from a conference in Louisville, KY on Feb 22 (where he may have been exposed to it) and was at church services at Chris Church in Feb 23. And at three services last weekend attended by hundreds of parishioners. From a CBS News report: The D.C. Department of Health said in a statement that it has been in contact with the church and "determined an individual's visitation to Christ Church Georgetown warrants precautionary measures." The department recommended "a temporary pause of services" and said it was "conducting an intensive investigation to identify any exposures to COVID-19 that may have occurred at the church," referring to the virus. It could really slow the spread if parishioners who shook his hand, took communion, or otherwise came in contact with him stayed home/self quarantined as much as possible over the next two weeks. It’s the responsible thing to do.
They won't, then say "no one in government told me to". I really wonder about people sometimes - you are independent thinkers here in the US. It's a gift. Use it well
That's the problem, isn't it? People use independent thinking based upon false information or a false sense of invincibility so they go around per usual as if nothing has changed despite the fact that they may have shaken the rector's hand. Look at that grandfather in St.Louis who broke quarantine to go to a child's school event--now the entire school is quarantined. He was also exercising his "independent" thinking and now the entire school community has to pay for it. In times like these, the government needs to send out a clear message with clear directions about what to do. Right now, we have a President who is more concerned about rising numbers of COVID-19 cases than about actually protecting the population from the disease.
It's not the independent thinking that causes this. It's the abject selfishness which is what the guy in St. Louis exhibited. There is no controlling that and the community will take care of him and it won't be pretty, trust me. He's going to have to move. Your last paragraph is just crap. State and local governments in the states that hate Trump will call anything he says crap - and already have. So will people who hate him.
