Baltimore is a real mensch of a city. And a complex one.

It has a ton of problems stemming in large part from more than a century of racial animosity and segregation (do some reading to see how African Americans were quarantined in specific areas) - it is in fact the northernmost southern city and that is reflected in the terrible treatment its African American residents faced for the entire 20th century and into the 21st.  Freddie Gray.

It also has Johns Hopkins University and medical center. Amazing museums (have you ever visited the Visionary Art Museum?). A wonderful waterfront. A lot of sports spirit. Fascinating history (have you been to Fort McHenry?). John Waters. It has a lot of heart.
