“They use LESS in public benefits than native born americans. https://www.cato.org/publications/immigration-rese...ate-immigrant-native-use-rate“ Again - that is not exactly what that study says. It is looking at individuals and federal level only. It counts the kids of illegal parents as native born because they are and it does not count local/state school spending. Spending by the government at all levels on households with illegal parents is what the real issue is in terms of outlays.
Oh, so now public school educations provided to US CITIZENS is a "hand out"? Did your Italian relatives not go to school at all in the US? The native-born children of immigrants contribute the MOST to fed & state coffers, so it's absurd to claim that educating them is a "hand-out." https://www.taxpolicycenter.org/taxvox/what-do-immigrants-cost-state-and-local-governments
I do believe we're talking about the NON-NATIVE children of illegal immigrants, dolt. Who are themselves, illegal immigrants. Try and keep up. -DP
Try again. The Tax Policy Center article does not distinguish between US citizen children and immigrant children, but it can be inferred that many of the kids were US citizens. The Cato piece finds that immimgrants consume fewer benefits than native-born citizens. The native-born children of immigrants (1st gen) consumer a proportionally higher share of benefits -- but referring back to the Tax Policy piece, they contribute MORE to the economy comparatively than 2nd gen and beyond. "With respect to government finances, the National Academies’ report shows that the adult children of immigrants contribute the most on average to federal and state and local coffers. " Finally, do you really want to end up like Japan, with an aging population and a culture so xenophobic that now that they are scrambling to get more immigrants, it's not working? Even if we instituted a rational LEGAL immigration program that met the actual labor needs of our country, a lot of the immigration would be low-wage workers, who would need public benefits. I don't see legal/illegal as the dividing line between the use of public benefits here.
