Why have such a negative reaction to the name of a school that has been there since 1925?  Sure, one of the namessakes may not have been the best choice, but the school seems to be doing okay-even with the name.
Why spend all this money and come up with a name that appears to be a poor choice to most people--just in the name of "progress?"

NO!  But, it sounds like you also wish to get rid of Washington.

Of course, slavery is unacceptable and all those other things you mention.  But, you really think we should get rid of Washington?  Here is a little tidbit:  lots of awful things have happened in the past.  Good people have done terrible things.  But, Washington is not honored for being a slave owner.  He is honored for helping to create a country of liberty and freedom.  Slavery was a horrible thing--but our government (which Washington helped found) enabled us to get rid of slavery.

If you cannot understand that, then perhaps you should find a place to live that has never done anything wrong in the past.  Please advise this forum of which country that might be.[/quote]

How much liberty and freedom did the the slaves George Washington had have? Robert E Lee was no worse a human being than George Washington.  He may have been more of an intellectual.  But his lifestyle proves he was just as barbaric.[/quote]
