Trump has a Lebanese grandson . Not sure what his relationship is with the other son in law but he’s loaded . More Than Kushner. Tiffany’s father in law helped Trump win the election with Michigan And is also a senior advisor with middle East affairs just Like Kushner. Trump didn’t forget that. He’s bizarrely attached to Lebanon in a way we did not see with Gaza and I think it’s familial. The Lebanese Christian’s do Not like Hezbollah but they also dislike The Idf blowing Up all their churches snd iconography which 40 Years of Hezbollah did not do. My Bet is the FIL influenced Trump
Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think the familial angle is all that relevant. Lebanon is a far more educated and developed country than the Gaza strip, and has much culture and history to preserve, as well as historical ties to neighbors and to its diaspora. Lebanon has long been an ally of France, for example: there are many well-to-do Lebanese in France, and evidence of French culture in Lebanon. I know you're just comparing body counts, and I agree that protecting all life matters more than handwringing about century-old alliances, cultural artifacts or historical buildings... but the fact is, Lebanon is seen as a more valuable nation overall than the Gaza strip.
Lebanon is seen as more valuable because it is liberal and more westernized and more Christian. However Christianity did not start there. The Gaza strip, Bethlehem, Jericho, Nazareth, Jerusalem were all Palestinian cities and the entire area during the ottoman era was not even called Palestine or Israel but “the holy land”. Lebanon is not land people are willing to die for and not as historically relevant. Israelis themselves always give up with Lebanon. They won’t however quit regarding the holy land. Much like the crusaders before, they will keep trying to stake a claim there and genocide the natives although history shows the crusaders despite the violence lost because they never gained the holy land The Gaza Strip connects Asia to Egypt and has lots of history. Yoy can google and find out what Gaza meant to the ancient Egyptians, Israelites, Greeks, and Roman Empire. It was a huge factor
The crusaders took and held the holy lands/Palestine for 200 years. It’s just that the holy lands/Palestine really do not have any strategic value- no natural resources and is between larger more powerful natural states. No country/kingdom/state has existed in the area during modern times before Israel. Many would say Israel is just an extension of US power. The only indigenous states lasted about 200 years before a stronger neighboring state conquered it and that was a long time ago. Israel 1948 to present(relies heavily on an external state/superpower) British Mandate (1920–1948) Superpower control Ottoman Empire (1516–1917) Strong region power Mamluk Sultanate (1260–1516) Egypt Crusader Period (1099–1291) European control Islamic Caliphates (638–1099) Iraq, Iran and Egypt Byzantine and Roman Empires (63 BCE–638 CE) Hasmonean Dynasty (140 BCE – 63 BCE): Prior to Rome's arrival, an independent Jewish kingdom ruled the region. Seleucid Empire (200 BCE – 140 BCE): This was a Hellenistic (Greek) empire that took control of the region after defeating the Ptolemies. Ptolemaic Kingdom (301 BCE – 200 BCE): Greek successor state based in Egypt. Empire of Alexander the Great (332 BCE – 301 BCE): Alexander the Great conquered the entire region from the Persians. Achaemenid Persian Empire (539 BCE – 332 BCE): The Persians ruled the region for over two centuries after conquering Babylon. Neo-Babylonian Empire (605 BCE – 539 BCE): Babylonians seized the region from Egypt and Assyria. Egyptian Twenty-Sixth Dynasty (609 BCE – 605 BCE): Egypt temporarily moved north and exerted dominant military. Neo-Assyrian Empire (722 BCE – 609 BCE): Mesopotamian superpower conquered the northern Kingdom of Israel in 722 BCE and turned the southern Kingdom of Judah into a subservient vassal state. Independent Kingdoms of Israel and Judah (c. 930 BCE – 722/586 BCE): Kingdom of Israel in the north and the Kingdom of Judah in the south. United Monarchy of Israel (c. 1020 BCE – 930 BCE)
