Maybe, maybe not, but I don't think the familial angle is all that relevant. Lebanon is a far more educated and developed country than the Gaza strip, and has much culture and history to preserve, as well as historical ties to neighbors and to its diaspora. Lebanon has long been an ally of France, for example: there are many well-to-do Lebanese in France, and evidence of French culture in Lebanon. I know you're just comparing body counts, and I agree that protecting all life matters more than handwringing about century-old alliances, cultural artifacts or historical buildings... but the fact is, Lebanon is seen as a more valuable nation overall than the Gaza strip.

Lebanon is seen as more valuable because it is liberal and more westernized and more Christian. However Christianity did not start there. The Gaza strip, Bethlehem, Jericho, Nazareth, Jerusalem  were all Palestinian cities  and the entire area during the ottoman era  was not even called Palestine or Israel but “the holy land”. Lebanon is not land people are willing to die for and not as historically relevant. Israelis themselves always give up with Lebanon.

They won’t however quit regarding the holy land. Much like the crusaders before, they will keep trying to stake a claim there and genocide the natives although history shows the crusaders despite the violence lost because they never gained  the holy land

The Gaza Strip connects Asia to Egypt and has lots of history.  Yoy can google and find out what Gaza meant to the ancient Egyptians, Israelites, Greeks, and Roman Empire. It was a huge factor  [/quote]
