As a parent of a VR player, I don’t have any issues with the coaches or the program itself. What I did realize this weekend, however, is how misleading the MLS Next branding can be for families. I spoke with several parents who thought they were joining an MLS Next team, not MLS Next 2. Looking more closely, it’s clear that VR and other clubs are presenting themselves as MLS Next, even when they’re not. I understood this distinction before joining, but seeing the MLS Next patch on my son’s jersey drove home the point—MLS is blurring the line between the two leagues. In doing so, they’re helping clubs grow and, intentionally or not, quietly blending the leagues. The strategy is working too, given that our team is made up almost entirely of new players from other clubs. So much confusion!
Not confusion, intentional deception on the clubs part hoping parents don't do the deep research. Otherwise the clubs would be upfront on what you are buying into.
It's not deception. It's called marketing. Every business does it like when you buy a car or a new gadget. It's up to you as the buyer to do your research before buying anything.
I agree with marketing your club, but it's a bit overboard when players and others can't distinguish truth from semi-truth. I think McLean, Loudoun, and St James is a bit more open about the program. In my opinion is more deception than marketing.
Again, this was not put out there as MLS Next it was told to everyone at tryout and when given an offer that it was the MLS Next 2. Those who did not listen or read then you did not pay close enough attention. We went through it all and at no time were we told MLS Next and not MLS Next 2, we knew the entire time. I know most of you want to say VRSC is horrible and tricking parents but that is NOT the case at all.
lol
Way to keep VRSC at the top of the forums and top of mind. Your attempts to smear us only make us more popular! There is no such thing as bad press.
lmao them solar panels + too much alcohol at tournaments lol
Well, he is no longer at VRSC and hasn’t been with most teams for awhile now, so he not relevant in this conversation any longer. Laugh all you want but we went through the MLSNext 2 process and it was fully explained, maybe some didn’t pay attention.
Fired by Jim? Hilarious that a Karl is now the boss with only 18 months at the “club” lol
He's still with a young girls team
