This topic is back again. I wonder if this is the first protest movement interrupted so the protesters could go on holiday! I really don’t get the goal here, it’s not like Hamas or Netanyahu care about what is going on half way around the world on US colleges. Divestment? That would seem a hollow win.
DP It's simple. Those who want an end to the genocidal massacre in Gaza (short-term goal). and who want progress in resolving the conflict once and for all (long-term goal), find utility in discussing the issues here. They want the thread to continue as long as needed ... Those who want to preserve the status quo for self-serving reasons feel otherwise. There are many reasons for their narcissistic feelings, but a common one involves the fact that they have loved ones from Brooklyn or Poland or Ukraine who are the beneficiary of U.S. taxpayer-funded weapons when the Israeli government and the IDF explicitly back the expansion of settlements, in flagrant violation of international law. They are in a tailspin seeing these discussions continue, knowing that the longer they continue, the more people become aware of Israel's atrocities. They want the thread killed ASAP. They have been screeching about that goal for months, and they badger the admin to shut it down regularly. Again, it's very simple. Those in the wrong just want to bury the body as quickly as possible to avoid detection.
DP. Quite the contrary here. I love seeing the same 2-3 posters dig up this thread. They discredit themselves and reveal their true motives every time: “Iran is a force for peace” “Tunnels aren’t real” “Palestinians favor a 2 state solution” “Who cares that the hostages were murdered?” And so forth and so on. It’s wonderfully illustrative.
Sure, Jan. You love it. Undoubtedly. No, really. Back here in reality, I can sense your blood pressure rising every time you feel that compulsion to come here and express exasperation that it still carries on.
On the contrary, this amuses me to no end. Please carry on.
