You left off Bobby Knight and many others.  But they were all bad decisions and obviously part of the implicit compensation package every D1 coach enjoys.  (McDermott's kid was a great college player, but you cannot help wondering whether he might have developed better with another set of eyes on his college career.)  Nobody can act objectively with respect to their child.  Either the child or other team members will ultimately be treated unfairly.  And even when that is not the case, the perception of potential favoritism can be problematic.  Is this really even a close question?  Outside of family-owned businesses, or show business, I don't think we'd normally view nepotism as an efficient or normal practice.[/quote]
