Having a mistress is a status symbol for a certain of man: ex-LAX player now on Wall Street, high ranking union official, some CEOs, sport figures.  He is tell his buddies how great the sex is with his hottie, how much he pays for her rent, that he bought her an Audi, etc.  He has bragging rights in the bar after golf and on business  trip bull sessions.
