VDA 09s did not look World Class today. Pun intended.
BUT wait...they were going to win it all! Both the mighty VDA 09s and 10s lost 2-0...hahahaha. But wait they are all going D1....lol. Kick and Run was not working today. Just goes to show you that a lot of these girls in ECNL are very similar and even a team full of D1 recruits can lose to a team that has a lot of Mid Majors. So everyone slow your roll about how good these top teams are. This is why you see so much movement between one year and the next in womens college soccer......Any Given Sunday!
VDA Marketing machine
It’s a legit question what is the goal of ECNL soccer. Some would argue the objective is as a college recruiting platform and from that perspective VDA is crushing it. If the objective is to develop winning soccer teams and players, not so much. The VDA teams are just not very competitive at soccer against the other ECNL conferences. They are very competitive in the recruiting arena aided by a generally weak mid atlantic conference.
VDA parents are quick to point out the losing records of other clubs to argue the superiority of VDA as a club. But when someone points out their teams that have a losing record, VDA parents are quick to explain the irrelevance of winning with regards to development. Add to that this explanation that recruitment is the goal. Also VDA parents are quick to accuse winning teams of other clubs as “kickball”. And no one ever answered the question posed earlier, if VDA is truly focused on development and recruitment over winning, why is the large percentage (or majority) of their older teams made up up players they brought in from other clubs? Weak Mid-Atlantic is the new excuse? Several VDA teams are middle of the pack in Mid-Atlantic. So, what does that say about VDA when they can’t dominate the “weak mid atlantic conference”? I’m not hating on VDA as a club. I say more power to them for their winning teams no matter how they got those teams. VDA certainly has more strong teams than weak ones. I do say the VDA parents peddling all their nonsense about other clubs only show how hypocritical and crass they are.
