I heard HHH doubled in size and went from 30 to some 60+ colleges attending. I also heard all the girls that were at the clinic got paired up with a school versus last year many got dismissed after the clinic without an invite. So although there are more schools there and everyone got an invite, it also meant there were a lot of girls paired up with a school they had no interest in. However, a lot of these players need to realize having interest at all from any D1 is good given only 3% will even play at D1 college.
The pattern seems to be these showcases and clinics start out exclusive and then a year or two later they expand because they know they can make a lot more money so they include a lot more girls making it more difficult to be seen and less of a real recognition of talent or opportunity. And girls are going to 4 or 5 of these a summer. JO, AS, AA, BIC, Nilly, HHH, etc. It’s getting ridiculous. And we’ve done them and fallen for it so not criticizing anyone.
Beginning to think coaches are deciding on talent based on what team you play for- and maybe your school - and then maybe off of seeing you play at a tournament or two and that’s it. Then last look at prospect camp. None of this other stuff.
. They are evaluating on your lacrosse talent/skill first and then overall fit for the needs they have on their roster. It’s pretty simple. These coaches need to win games. That’s how they keep their job. They don’t care what school you go to or what club as long as you’re a top-tier high-level player with really good grades so admissions is easy and their Academic Index stays on target. Evaluating and considering players from a Top School, Top Club that look good at tournaments and at a prospect camp seems reasonable way to make your interest list as a coach.
