+1. A starting teacher with a BS makes under $55k. With a Master’s it’s about $60k. I’m 5 years in with a Master’s and make about $70k. I like my job but I’m very glad my husband is a high earner because I don’t make nearly enough to live on around here.[/quote]

I have kids and and a mortgage. That's not doable on $70k in Fairfax. We'd qualify for housing assistance in Fairfax County if I were the solo earner. I work with a couple brand new teachers on the BS scale who are single and still qualify for housing assistance.[/quote]
