No. There are plenty of never-Youngkin people who think most kids should go to school on Eid, Diwali, Yom Kippur, etc, etc, and that those who need a day off for PERSONAL reasons should be given leniency in their schedule.
People are extremely impulsive short-sighted if they think having to deal with their kids for those 5 days is worth voting in republicans for charters and vouchers and Christian nationalism in FCPS.
I said that I and many others are "never Youngkins"...meaning Never would vote for him or his kind. BUT I don't want all these religious days in the school year. I'm still not voting for crazy christian nationalists. But if you give me an independent or establishment republican candidate for school board, I'm definitely going to consider it over Frisch or Omeish or others.
Can I ask what disturbs you so much about the holidays? Are your kids failing? Can you not find childcare? What is the issue here? I'm asking because I just don't care. My kids go to school, they are doing fine, if they stay home we enjoy those days too. Is it just the religious part or is it any days off? I'm just confused why you are so heated up by this. It sounds like you all are just angry and need to focus it. Youngkin gave everyone the green light to focus pandemic anger on schools and here you all are doing just that, but on the calendar (?). Also, establishment republicans don't really exist anymore.
What disturbs me about this comment is how privileged it is. You assume that every family can easily take time off work to stay home with their child(ren) on these days. For many lower to middle-income families, that's not possible. It is a financial hardship to pay for care on those days. Or to take time off work (and not get paid) to stay home. The calendar once again shows that this school board doesn't care about lower income families.
Please stop with your faux concern for poor families. You don’t know any. You just want to rage at FCPS.
When DCUM posters read something they don’t like, they always say the PP is privileged and doesn’t understand the plight of the poor.
