This worked for us. Our DC is a senior at a lower ranked Nova high school- think large % of FARMs and URM students. So far nine UVA admits via ED. Only one URM that I can think of; none are FARMs students either. Are these kids stellar students? I would say so. Did some have issues getting the AP classes they wanted to take? Yep, lower demand for those classes, meant only few sections offered.   Do they all have 4.5 + GPAs and 1500+ SAT scores?  Nope, but they worked hard and also excelled in other areas. Jobs, athletics, volunteering. Do their teachers know them well?  I would think so, being the few students that stand out academically. Probably wrote stellar LORs.

I still cannot understand the obsesion some parents have about keeping certain higher ranked high school boundaries the way they are to keep the FARMs kids out. They continue to feel their kids get “cheated” out of UVA. Did my kid see a fight at their school? Yep.  Is there vaping in the bathrooms? Yep!  Is there bad language in the hallways? Yep. Will they be just fine?  Yep![/quote]
