I wouldn't call it terrible but it's definitely not as good as GOT, which is disappointing. Agree that they need to inject a bit of humor or *something* to lighten the mood. So dark and depressing. Still feeling disappointed with how the Rhaenyra character changed after the age up. The younger version was much more charismatic and interesting. Daemon is probably my favorite character now and he's not exactly what I'd call likable...
Yep, I wish there was more humor too but it takes wit which the writers don’t have. I thought the dinner scene was rather nice though. I mostly liked this episode but hated the end where Viserys mistakenly blabbers to Alicent about Aegon’s dream. It looks like the Hightowers’ power play for the throne is going to be justified as a wacky misunderstanding.
+1. I find this plot device irritating/infuriating. The Queen, who has much to gain if her son takes the throne, is the only person to hear this conversation? Ok. I don't LOVE this show but I find it interesting enough to stick with it. I think they are ending Season 1 too early though. A full fall season of a drama used to be a good 12-13 episodes. 10 is pushing it unless they are starting again in the spring, and they aren't. Season 2 is going to have to be amazing in order to draw people back. And I kind of think people are done with the shock value of torture, gore, and violence that was introduced in GoT. I do find in sort of fascinating that Alicent and Viserys' children are all uniformly terrible in their own way, while Rhaenyra's boys seem lovely. The little romance between Rhaenyra's boys and Velaryon girls was sweet, as was one of them dancing with Helena. Alicent seems to have some very decent qualities, so it's odd that her sons are little degenerates. I didn't understand anything at the end with the dark haired lady from the ?brothel? I assume the little boy is Aegon's son and the only reason I can see what it matters is Alicent's crusade against immorality, which I have never really understood. I was very grossed out by the King's appearance and could not watch most of that scene where his mask had fallen off.
