States have been working to codify those things that worked well and made voting easier for their residents (like mail in voting and early voting).  They are also fixing the things that were done that resulted in less voter integrity (like drop boxes and ballot harvesting).

The Democrats would like to federalize the practices whether or not they lead to stronger voter integrity.  Things like ballot harvesting... which is illegal in most states... would become legal across the nation.  
The Republicans believe we should follow the Constitution and have states set the laws that guide the procedure for voting.  Republicans are naturally against the Democratic effort to federalize elections.

The hyperbole and rhetoric from the president and Democrats that "Democracy will die" if their voting law is not passed is pure BS.  Just like the rhetoric with the BBB bill that this was the "most important piece of legislation" proposed and we need to pass it to keep people out of poverty - complete BS.

If Democrats have issues with provisions in bills that are passed - they can take their issues to court.  Frankly, I wish Republicans would make a big effort to make ballot harvesting illegal in all states. [/quote]
