Savapoulos family - I know the killer has been jailed but that story does not add up. I knew Amy through our children’s’ school events. She was a kind, dear woman but she wore easily 100k of jewelry casually every day, huge engagement ring, large antique diamond ring and a real van cleef and Arpels alhambra necklace... all worth way more than the money their killer was demanding. Something larger was at play with that murder...
Only on dcum would someone recognize a “real van cleef and Arpels alhambra necklace.” 😁
Those aren't even that expensive so I have no idea why PP mentioned it.
New poster. That specific necklace was a subject in a thread on DCUM very recently. Thread was about pandemic splurge purchases and there was a bunch of back and forth about that necklace style. I figure that's why the first PP above references a "real" one, to show us he or she knows this exact necklace when she or he sees one. The point is that the killer (or killers, since there has long been a belief that another person was involved) didn't have enough brains to steal tons of expensive jewelry while in the house for hours. But I've never heard: Was the guy who was convicted caught with any jewelry or other items from the house? Maybe he was. I do agree that the case always seemed like there was more to it, but I also think the convicted killer would have sold out any accomplices or anyone who paid him, long before now, and we'd have heard about it.
NP. Pretty sure it was just the cash and the Porsche, even though there were many other valuables in the home, including additional cash. He did try to pin it on his brothers during the trial, but they were shown to be elsewhere at the time. He has asked for a new trial, so perhaps he'll name someone else if that happens.
