This thread is about ASIANS. The OP is pondering whether her child should hide her identity in this country because her identity, her race, her ancestry is discriminated against due to systemic racism. We are ALLOWED to talk about all the different factors that are involved with that system racism and how there are MANY facets that play into racism against Asians and, in particular to this thread, Asian children. If Black people are uncomfortable with all these various facets, some of which include them, then they need to learn, grow, educate themselves and sit in their own discomfort. Becoming an anti-racist is not an easy process.
Have you read the thread? of course Asians should talk about Asian issues but spouting untrue facts about Blacks to build your case is not the way to do that... Some Asian posters were flame throwing. The actual facts from Harvard documents are now in the thread. Complain about the 62 point disparity in average scores all you like but the previously posted 140 point disparity was a lie. If Asian people want to use "various facets" they should use correct information, and then they need to learn, grow , educate themselves and sit in their own discomfort. It is racist to use fake information about one race to magnify Asian abilities or scores.
If you want to dwell on the on the 'flame throwing' Asians, then you are just looking for excuses to continue being racist. There are bad apples in every bunch and as much as America wants to believe that Asians are a monolithic, robotic breed, we are vastly different and have our own thoughts. You can use your energy to hate on all Asians because of them or you can use your energy to support anti-racism for all people.
I posted the facts and repeatedly said I do not have a problem with Asians, Whites or Blacks. I also do not think life is fair and sometimes people do not a job or acceptance even though they are qualified. i value diversity even though it worked against my female child when applying to college. But she went to another school and so far has had a wonderful experience. As a family we have moved on.
But you are clearly not an ivy material. You have nothing to lose.
Ha ha. And that is because I have typos on a message board?? Many poster sound like immigrants... Evan a moron knows that Blacks have been in the US for more than 400 years. There are tons of legacies that move on when their kid does not get in at all top American schools. Sometimes in one family some kids get in and some don’t ... the families move on. There is no basis for that assumption at all.
It’s like the ugliest women who bash beauty contests. They move on and convince themselves they are above it all. Try telling white swimming Olympic athletes they need to make a room for those from the inner cities with fewer opportunities. Yeah, move on...
