The name comes across as "only black lives matter" and I know that is not the intention.
Only intolerant people think this. We all already know our society values white lives. Our cops have historically treated blacks as if their lives didn't matter. BLM is merely pointing out that black lives do matter. If you know the intent is not to say only black lives matter, why isn't that enough for you? Why not explain that to those who don't understand that. Whites are always assigning negative meanings to black people's actions. Kapernick was protesting police brutality during a time he felt he could get people to focus on it. He was labeled a traitor to the country, he was accused of disrespecting our military and our flag. All for just peacefully kneeling after talking to a veteran about it. People who are offended with the name BLM will still be offended no matter what it's called. They think there's no racism and that blacks are "always playing the race card." Blacks can't win with those people, why cowtow to them?
+1 When people say "black lives matter," they are saying "black lives matter, TOO." We know that all lives matter. But "all lives' aren't placed in danger in the same way that black lives are. We say "black lives matter" because black lives are the ones in danger.
