I don't think that's always the case, I've been around just long enough to see the shite statements and decisions made by Coach not pan out, who is absolutely ignoring the facts and real life observations. I have to wonder if it's blinders, long term vision, or politics. It could be the bet is placed on kid A and they're gonna ride it out because they imagined they saw something and kid B is just not gonna get an equal chance. Coaches are human and humans err.. a lot.

Everyone wears blinders a bit when it comes to their own kid. But on the flip side, I've seen many sideline parents who find fault in much of what their DD/DS does as well. I always wonder though, does the coach watch the same game or game film parents do?  Does the scout? How can they really be watching everything?  Do they only watch the people they've decided to watch (scouts, yes, probably -- coaches, are they watching the people they are invested in and/or those they are predisposed to find fault with?  Are they watching the rest?)

If you can show film to/watch a game with a neutral yet knowledgable observer and simply say "who stands out", or "who has good speed/athleticism/passing ability/use of space/shooting technique/insert characteristic here", will you get the same answer as what the coach would say? The parent? The scout?[/quote]
