Your description of "ride-or-die" as being an "extreme" characterization hinges on the status of being democratically elected, so it does matter.  And, as it turns out, most people did not vote for him, so to continue to cling to him in the face of so much unpopularity is an extreme position, which makes "ride-or-die" an apt description.[/quote]
