I am sorry, but from what I have read all the prominent Jewish leaders in the District acccepted his initial apology.  Then the holocaust museum tour went very badly (I mean really?)   Now this (and is a donation to NOI needed for W8 to get food?)

The Nation of Islam provides a range of social services in Ward 8 including distributing food. While those services are not contingent upon a $500 donation, they would end if the NOI was not allowed to continue its work in DC.

And AFAICT the admiration for NOI in AA communities has less to do with handouts (done by many organizations) than with the turning around of lives by religious conversion.  [/quote]
Religious conversion to what? Not to an NOI follower, I hope. We don't need any more antisemitic thinkers, and if they follow Farrakhan, that's what he'll turn them into. Why is everyone OK with this?

Poor rural areas are no different than poor urban areas in that no one pays any attention to them.  
No one pays attention to the people living in them or their plight which makes it all the more easy for predatory lenders and bankers to wreak havoc on those areas for profit thus worsening their predicaments, but also because no one pays attention to them it makes it all the more easy for all kinds of extremist groups to proliferate their propaganda in those areas under the guise philanthropic programs.

I mean think about it - did you even know about the NOI's charitable work in Ward 8 prior to this big news story about Councilmember White?  I'm betting you didn't know because most people don't pay any attention to what goes on in a poor urban area like Ward 8 because most people simply didn't care.

Now think about this - did you know that in 2000 the organization David Duke founded called the National Association for the Advancement of White People (NAAWP) began it's "Operation Appalachian"?  It was a program designed to "deliver the basic staples of life to the deserving folk of Appalachia particularly whites of European ancestry" and sure they gave away bookbags, notebooks, calculators, and pencils, but they also gave away hateful propaganda.  I'm betting you didn't know because most people don't pay attention to what goes on poor rural areas like Loudendale, West Virginia because most people simply don't care.

So you see the pendulum swings both ways and it's not that folks are okay with anti-Semitism nor are people okay with white nationalism or any other vile race-based hatred out there - the simple fact is when it comes to poor people NO ONE CARES.  That's why there's no outcry because the people in trenches are too caught up in the struggle to care who it is that's providing them assistance and the people on the outside of the trenches are too wrapped up in their own little bubbles to notice what's going on elsewhere.[/quote]
