The student will encounter a much brighter population at U Chicago than he or she will encounter at UVA.
Since when? Have you seen what is required to get into UVA now?
It’s tough for you to see outside your box and around your pitcher of Kool Aid, I think, because of the nova competition — a teeming mass of the offspring of a crowded population of overachievers chasing too few seats at a good, fairly cheap school — but the in state acceptance rate is still high and the test scores are lower than Chicago’s. The notion that these schools are comparable is laughable.
All the independent 3rd parties - Payscale, Govt salary report, Forbes, WS financial reports - indicate UVA is comparable, even superior, to UChicago. OP's question is, is the tuition premium at UChicago justified? Independent parties who have no dog in the fight answer in the negative. What is laughable is that Uchicaho is being passed over routinely by likes of UVA, UCLA, and UCBerkely . That's what's alarming the UChicago people to the hysterical level.
Imbicile alert!!! More people buy a Toyota Camry than a Rolls Royce for very valid reasons. That says nothing about the Rolls Royce or the Toyota Camry, but you would not know that because you sir are a Moron. Also comparing two schools by the average salary earned by their grads, is another idiotic way to choose schools. Just because school A's alums earn better than school B's alums doesn't mean that You will earn a higher income if you go to school A. Averages are treacherous. If school A's alums include a Gates child or a Buffet kid or a Trump love child, that will affect the average without adding a dime to your income if you land up there. Also most of these salaries are self-reported. Joining a basketball team will not make you any taller, even though the average basketball player is much taller than most people. The average income of its graduates is similarly a very shaky basis for choosing a college. See the problem here? Of Course not. You are a moron.... There are many good reasons to choose UVA over UChicago: To avoid academic mismatch, costs, closeness to home, major, etc etc. That doesn't make UVA a better school. It just means that it fits some students better. God only knows UChicago should not be the only school anyone aspires to. That would be silly. Moving on.....
