I’m watching the morning news shows. Is anyone else noticing a shift in the narrative? Like, the media is conditioning us to the idea of going to war? Same with the administration? I’m starting to get concerned that we are going to be pulled into a war with Russia.
You're paranoid.
Ok, maybe I am. But, can you convince me that the US isn’t going to be drawn into this war. It seems increasingly likely that Russia will invade a nato member. And the narrative from the political talking heads is changing.
No. We cannot. If Russia attacks a NATO member then we are at war because he will have attacked us. The choice is surrender or defend. Take your pick but be honest with yourself about it.
And if this happens - that Putin attacks a European NATO member - please remember that it will be only the second time in the history of the NATO alliance that Article 5 (invoking mutual defense) will be used. You know what the first time Article 5 was invoked? On 9/11! On 9/11 our NATO allies invoked article 5 in order to help defend the US. That’s why it was SO shameful that Donald Trump denigrated NATO and ultimately sought to withdraw us (according to John Bolton) in his (never to happen 🤞) 2nd term. FYI, the narrative from the talking heads is changing because it is becoming increasingly apparent that Putin has no interest in ending this war because Putin himself cannot remain as leader of Russia if he withdraws. He will be seen as defeated and will lose his grip on power and likely be executed or imprisoned. It is also becoming increasingly clear that every last Ukrainian can and will fight Russia for as long as it takes to eject Russia from Ukraine, even if Russia were to physically take Ukraine, the war would continue as an unending insurgency. The only thing Putin can do to strengthen his hand is provoke NATO into the fight, which would in turn strengthen Putin and rally most Russian citizens and politicians to his side in the name of saving Russia.
