We were once leading the country as a COVID-19 hot spot, and I think our fatality rate is somewhere around 1 in 130 of the population. This was devastating. If the same rate held for the entire US, it would be about 2.5 million deaths.

But now we have a really strong vaccination rate, even moreso amongst the elders (more than 90%). We are catching up children on standard well care in the clinics again. And we went 24 hours with no deaths and no new cases and no fatalities. :)

People still mask, stay home, and are careful. The Navajo Nation curfew remains in effect from 9pm to 5am, seven days a week.
