I'm guessing that they used the same dose as for adults, in which case vax of 12+ can get underway whenever availability permits.

Above news that people with vax do not / are exceedingly unlikely to transmit is also huge as it removes the worry that a vaccinated person can become infected and then transmit to other household members.

US vaccine progress is good, notwithstanding yesterday's J&J news.  Over half of the 65+ population is fully vaccinated, and >70% have at least one shot.

Deaths and cases in nursing homes have plummeted.

Yes, cases are going up, but are still far, FAR below winter levels.

Prediction: deaths will likely go up starting in a week or so (consistent with previous waves).  Expect much to made of this development in the media even though it is predictable.

Additional prediction: this wave of cases/deaths will be much milder because so many people are vaccinated, especially in high-risk groups.  So transmission should be lower and also the people getting sick should be (on average, of course) in the less-vulnerable groups.

Last prediction: by the end of this month, the norm will be that vaccines are easy to get and the focus will have shifted from hunting for vax to persuading those who don't want it.[/quote]
