Deflection is the first sign you've lost an argument.  Deflection on its own is a losing strategy in arguments because it avoids addressing the core issue.  It's a defense mechanism to avoid responsibility, criticism, or uncomfortable feelings, but by shifting the focus, it prevents problem-solving. And you can't solve the DCU problem which is, no one who knows anything about youth football, accepts that DCU  is a credible MLS academy in this country.

When you deflect you attempt to avoid personal accountability: By not taking responsibility or a genuine position on the issue you miss the opportunity to learn and grow from mistakes.
