I logged in at 7 am this morning (in MD) expecting a nightmare experience getting a vaccine appointment and got one 10 minutes later at a Walgreens about an hour away. I consider that good news! I'm in group 1C.
MD seems to be doing an honor system? A friend just sent me a website where I could get a vaccine appointment this weekend. I'm in my 40s with no risks and I'm WFH (same with my husband) so we were like, this seems sketchy, we are going to wait until it opens to our group. And VA is big on pre-registering, but in MD that is not a thing? Confusing. Either way, I'm glad you are getting a appointment this weekend!
Yes MD is on the honor system for the most part. Some places are asking for proof of a job, I had to bring a letter from my employer. Depends on who is working at the pharmacy/mass vax site. Do NOT use a link that someone sends you from the county/state. They are private and your appointment will be cancelled. If someone sends you a link to CVS or the six flags site, that is fine. MDs eligibility is broad and ambiguous. If you qualify but WFH, GET A VACCINE. It doesn't matter if you feel guilty or think you shouldn't. The state says it's your turn so just get it. Vaccines are much easier to get now. To answer your last question, MD is doing pre-registration but only vaccinating the elderly and healthcare workers. Everyone else who qualifies needs to go through a mass vax site (we have 4 now and 1 more coming!) or a pharmacy. VA is using their preregistration to go through 1b which is anyone with a BMI over 25, so it's a huge list. Pharmacies are only vaccinating over 65 and certain workers (teachers and healthcare) in VA. Also PP, there is so much vaccine you should not have to drive an hour unless you live in bumblef**k. I'm in Bethesda and six flags or Ravens stadium are both 35 minutes away and super easy to get an appointment at. They're one dose so only one trip, but you probably got a moderna/pfizer at Walgreens and will need to go twice.
