I'll admit biased as have DD on top ECNL local team, but feeling bad for all the GA supporters....VDA, ARL and Union. all way over any of the local GA teams, not even close....and if you would admit to yourself, if your DD could make one of those teams you would leave VAR, SYC, Alex, Mclean, or Loudoun/NVA in a heartbeat....also just look at where all the good NVA players are going, none are staying with club, all are moving to ECNL teams if they can...speaking u14 and older. As for the younger teams, maybe GA starts closing the gap in 3-5 years, but just look at the showcases and how many college coaches are attending ECNL events v GA events....or just look at college placement of D1 players, not even close. those who know, know...not saying GA isn't bad or looking to expand, but check the soccer app and look at how many GA teams across the country are in the top 100....maybe 10 nationally per age group and they are not from this area.
Not true. D is weighing offers from GA and ECNL teams. Coaching, location, etc does matter. Dont think it’s smart to choose a team just because it’s ECNL. I could understand why someone would choose being on a playoff caliber GA team vs being on a mid/bottom level ECNL team.
lmao. if your daughter doesn't play on a Champions Cup or playoff GA, coaches are not running to watch them. you attend an ECNL showcase you get a good turnout to your games no matter what team you are. just facts.
We agree, I think. Right now you have to be a Champions Cup/Playoff GA team to get the same exposure as a top/mid level ECNL team. Sorry bottom level GA teams. All that being said, the girls need to perform and get on coaches radar. When invited to College ID session, coaches won’t give a crap at that point.
Coaches like to see you play against the best competition available which is why when you go to a specific schools ID clinic you'll see incoming freshmen and current players participating. They want to see how players stack up. If you go to an ID and get noticed they aren't going to blow you off simply because you play on a mid or lower level ECNL or GA team or that you play GA instead of ECNL. Getting noticed is key but so is showing interest. Not many players actually go to the schools sports page and sends in a player recruitment questionnaire which should be the first thing a player does to show interest in the school. Parents and players seem to think that recruitment just happens, that playing on a specific team in a specific league will get them noticed. Facts are these scouts are at games 20-40mins and may be taking notes on players on their list made from those that attended IDs and sent in the questionnaire. You might have a slim chance of doing something that gets noticed but don't count on it.
